The third, by Hoare again and the Norwegian computer scientist Ole-Johan Dahl, co-creator of Simula 67, had a strange title but was really an introduction, the first ever, to the ideas of object-oriented programming. Hoare was instrumental in rewriting Dahl’s prose into more standard English.
